Fida initiates change negotiations affecting all employees in Finland and abroad.
Fida has launched change negotiations that cover all staff employed by the organisation both in Finland and internationally.
The negotiations begin today and are expected to last about three weeks. The planned adjustment measures are scheduled for implementation during December and January.
The goal of the negotiations is to achieve approximately one million euros in financial improvement in order to address the deficit that has accumulated over several years.
Fida’s finances have been challenged by factors such as rising overall costs, declining profitability in the Fida secondhand chain, and a decrease in major donations.
– The secondhand market environment is changing rapidly: consumers’ purchasing power has weakened and competition has intensified, which has reduced the availability of quality donations for charity. Collecting monetary donations has also become increasingly difficult in the current economic climate, explains Fida’s Executive Director, Harri Hakola.
The negotiations will examine organisational restructuring and its impact on both domestic and international operations. Areas under review include staffing needs, employment contract terms, and working time arrangements. The aim is also to identify savings in other expenses to minimise changes affecting personnel.
The negotiations concern 200 employees in Finland and worldwide. Preliminary estimates suggest the measures could lead to around 25 redundancies, as well as possible reductions in working hours and temporary layoffs.
– Our goal is to find solutions that safeguard the continuity of Fida’s work and ensure we can continue to help where help is needed most, Hakola says.
Hakola emphasises that donations are the foundation of Fida’s work.
– Donations make it possible to provide aid to those in the most vulnerable situations. I want to encourage people to continue giving both monetary donations and good-quality clothes and items.
