Humanitarian aid in Yemen
Fida supports families in extreme need in Yemen.
Fida supports families in extreme need in Yemen.
Nearly a decade of ongoing conflict and growing instability has pushed millions of people into a state of emergency.
The majority of Yemen’s population lives in poverty, and with society in collapse, jobs are scarce. Around 64% of people suffer from ongoing food insecurity, and malnutrition is alarmingly widespread. Over 17 million people are in need of humanitarian aid — 6 million of them in acute crisis.
Many lack access to clean water and basic hygiene, making diseases like cholera and diarrhoea spread easily.
Women, children, and people with disabilities are especially vulnerable. Psychological distress is widespread, yet professional mental health support is scarce.
Fida works in Yemen together with a long-standing local partner organisation with experience on the ground. The aim is to support families in their daily survival in a region where emergency has become a way of life and many live as displaced persons.
Fida’s work in Yemen is funded by the Finnish Ministry for Foreign Affairs, with a grant of €690,000 for the year 2025.
