The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) is facing one of the world’s longest-running humanitarian crises. Fida and its partner, CEPAC church are helping internally displaced people in South and North Kivu.
Decades of armed conflict have led Eastern DRC into chaos. Up to 6.9 million people have had to flee their homes.
Fida responds to the humanitarian emergency in the provinces of South and North Kivu. The initiative improves people’s living conditions and psychosocial welfare. The assistance reaches 80 000 people, most of whom are children.
Fida has worked in the DRC since 2006, alongside partner Pentecostal Church, CEPAC (Communauté des Eglises de Pentecôte en Afrique Centrale). The DRC initiative is funded by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland, amounting 1.5 million euros for the 2024-2025 period.
Children and women who have fled armed attacks need a great deal of help. Many women here have been subjected to sexual violence. My hope is that peace would return and that we would be able to go back home. The most important thing for me would be for my children to get an education. Then they could build a better life for themselves.
