Humanitarian Aid

We help in greatest distress when war, natural disaster, or crisis strikes.

Poika seisoo paljain jaloin maassa, taustalla likainen seinä.

When natural disaster or war strikes, the most important thing is to rapidly provide emergency aid, food, clean water, and shelter. We support families living in the midst of crisis with a long-term approach, bringing hope into challenging situations.

Crises are often complex and protracted. Vulnerable people may need help with everyday survival for years to come.

Fida specialises in supporting families to cope within protracted humanitarian emergencies.

How we Help in Crisis Areas:

  • We create support networks and facilitate peer support for families to strengthen their mental wellbeing.
  • We create safe spaces for children to play and learn.
  • We ensure children go to school, by repairing schools and providing school meals, for instance.
  • We strengthen the inclusion of people with disabilities within communities.
  • We provide cash assistance, so that people living in the midst of emergency can buy medicine, food, and clothing, or pay electricity bills, for example.

Local Support Ensures Reliable Assistance

Fida will deliver your assistance. This is ensured by our trusted partners, local churches and NGOs, who have good networks and long-standing presences in crisis areas.

Fida’s humanitarian work focuses on local people living in crisis areas, who are members of local churches and NGOs. They are also teachers, entrepreneurs, market workers, farmers, and psychologists. Fida supports their survival and strengthens their ability to recover from hardships, so that they can help their own communities.

We are helping in these crises

Essential Support in the Midst of a Crisis

I have lived in a refugee camp for four years with my small child. Fida and the local CEPAC church supported me in starting a business. I have been learning how to make soap, and now I am skilled enough to be able to sell it. With soap sales, I can support myself and my child. I can feel confident about the future, even though I am raising my child alone.

“I built this house with group savings” – Table banking groups empower women in Congo

In the Democratic Republic of Congo, table banking groups encourage women to save money and enable them to take out loans. People who do not have access to traditional banks now are able to access capital. With borrowed capital, many start their own business, which improves livelihoods. For women, table banks allow for financial independence.
