Category specific donation instructions

When following the check list below, you can be confident that your donation stays in good shape to its next owner. A warm thank you for your donation!

Clothing and textile donations

Textiles include: clothing, soft accessories, shoes, bags, home textiles, curtains, decorative pillows, towels, and tablecloths.

You can bring clothing and textile donations directly to your nearest Fida Shop, drop them in a Fida Collection Box, or donate them via our free pick-up service.

  • Pack folded textiles, shoes, and hard goods (dishes, books, etc.) in separate donation bags, as they are processed differently during sorting and in stores.
  • If you are dropping off a donation bag in a collection box, pack the items in a well-sealed plastic bag to keep the textiles dry until they are sold.
  • Clean the soles of shoes to prevent dirt from contaminating other donations. Pack shoes separately from textiles.
  • Remove any price tags from self-service flea market items on donated textiles and shoes.

Actions that speed up the donation processing and maintain the value of the donation:

  1. Clean donated textiles of stains, pills, pet hair, and empty the pockets.
  2. Air out the textiles for a couple of days before donating them, especially if they’ve been stored for a longer time and are wrinkled.
Furniture donations

Furniture includes: furniture pieces, paintings, rugs, ceiling lights, mattresses, large pillows, and strollers.

Furniture donations are accepted through Fida’s free pick-up service. Donations can also be taken to the store, but this must be arranged in advance with the store staff. Not all of our stores accept furniture. Check the store contact details.

  1. Order the pick-up service for large items well in advance to get the preferred pick-up time.
When moving from an apartment, it’s a good idea to first pack the furniture and items to be donated and arrange for their pick-up after that.
  2. Beat or vacuum the rugs and wipe the dust off furniture and lights before donating them.
Note: During pick-up, the drivers will inspect and assess the furniture at the time of collection. The same thing applies to furniture donated directly to a Fida Shop, the staff will inspect the furniture.
Small item donations

Small items include, for example, dishes, small decorative and home accessories, books, magazines, toys, games, jewellery, cosmetics, etc.

You can bring small item donations directly to your local Fida Shop or donate via our free pick-up service. Please do not place fragile items in our Collection Boxes, take them to a Fida Shop instead – thank you!

  1. Pack hard home goods separately from textiles.
  2. Jewelry should be packed in a separate small bag to prevent it from getting lost among other items.
  3. Make sure that toys and games have all their parts.
  4. We accept cosmetics and hygiene products, provided that the packaging is in good condition.
  5. Remove any price tags from self-service flea market items.

Actions that speed up the donation processing and increase the value of the donation:

  • Clean and dust the items before donating them.
  • If you are donating valuable or vintage items, we greatly appreciate it if you can include written details about the item’s manufacturer, age, material, origin, or history. This helps speed up the evaluation and pricing process.
Electronic devices donations

Electronics include all electric and battery-operated items (except lights), LPs, CDs, DVDs, and household appliances.

You can donate electronics directly to your nearest Fida Shop or via Fida’s free pick-up service. For large appliances, it’s a good idea to arrange Fida’s free pick-up service. If you wish to bring a large donation to a Fida store, please arrange it in advance with the store staff. Check the store contact details.

  1. Fida only accepts functioning, good-condition electronics and household appliances, preferably less than 5 years old.
  2. Include all cables, chargers, user manuals, etc. You can secure parts to the device with rubber bands, or place all parts of a device in one bag and tape the bag to the device with painter’s tape.
  3. Remove batteries from devices before donating. Please dispose of the batteries through a battery recycling program.
  4. Clean the device’s containers and nozzles (e.g., coffee grounds, bread crumbs, vacuum cleaner container, etc.), as we will sell the item in the condition it was donated to us.
  5. Check that LPs, CDs, and DVDs are functional (scratch-free) and that the correct disc is inside the cover.
