Is your company looking to be part of something bigger? Fida is also looking for longer-term partnerships with businesses.
As a long-term partner of Fida, you are an active contributor committed to doing good together with us. Partnerships are multi-year collaborative projects where our goal is to achieve greater impact and tangible results on the “next level.”
We have collaborated with companies such as Hesburger Oy and Samla Capital Oy.
Hesburger, a fast-food restaurant chain, is a Finnish family-owned business. Hesburger restaurants can be found in nine countries and there are 500 Hesburger restaurants worldwide.
Hesburger supported Fida’s community development project in Dhaka, Bangladesh. As part of the long-term collaboration, Hesburger Oy built a school in a slum area to meet the needs of the project, providing education for hundreds of students. The goal was to offer schooling opportunities to 500 students.
Samla Capital Oy is a Finnish real estate investment company that invests in real estate in growing cities using the funds that it manages.
Samla Capital Oy funded the construction of a school building for 200 children near the Kutupalong refugee camp in Bangladesh. The school provided refugee children with much-needed shelter, safety, and education to support their future.
In addition, Samla Capital donated funds for a village well construction project in Kenya. In Kenya’s Baringo County, severe droughts can mean no substantial rainfall for over two years. The well serves multiple purposes, including providing drinking water, sanitation, and irrigation, benefiting the entire community.

Business has an important role to play in sustainable development. We are interested in exploring how we can partner in creating sustainable business around that world that leads to sustainable development.
In many developing countries there is the phenomenon of the ‘missing middle’. This refers the small number of SMEs (Small and medium sized enterprises) in their economy. SMEs make a much smaller contribution to the economies of low income countries (17% of GDP) compared to their counterparts in the higher income countries. (50% of GDP). This graph for the centre of international development at Harvard highlights the difference very clearly.
Fida wants to partner with businesses to support the establishment and development of SMEs in developing countries to enable them to become the engines of economic growth.
A new opportunity that Fida has for companies is to collaborate through Fida’s company Forfide Oy. Forfide can help Finnish businesses to find suitable local partners in developing countries.
